A Coveted Opportunity

The annual Perkins Christmas Party, established by philanthropist J. J. Perkins in the 1930s to help the economically struggling Methodist Home, became the party of the year for many Wacoans. Though many coveted the opportunity to attend, only a few sponsors were invited to attend to ensure that all of the children at the orphanage would have a seat at the dinner table.
