Dr. Zan Wesley Holmes, Jr. remembers the election of Joseph Lockridge to the Texas House of Representatives in 1966. Lockridge, elected alongside Barbara Jordan and Curtis Graves, was Dallas’s first Black state representative since Reconstruction. Later, Holmes succeeded Lockridge when he died tragically in 1968.
