The Jefferson-Moore High School band played at the dedication ceremony. Originally A.J. Moore High School, the school founded in the late 1800s closed in 1971 as a result of desegregation and urban renewal. It reopened as Jefferson-Moore High school but closed once more, reopening later as a magnet school, then consolidating with University High School.
