R. T. Dennis was family-run throughout its history. Rush Halbert Berry, vice president of the company after Dennis’s death, married Dennis’s niece Maude Dennis. Their son, Labon Edward “Ed” Berry, pictured here, served as R. T. Dennis’s general manager and secretary. He also served on many boards and committees around town, including as chairman of the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church deacons. Both Rush and Ed were killed in the tornado, and they had a joint funeral at Columbus Avenue Baptist. This is the last image taken of Ed before his death.
