Robert Thornton Dennis was born in Alabama in 1859, and he lived in New Orleans and Virginia before finally making it to Texas at the age of fifteen. In 1888 he joined the Freemasons and became a member of Waco Lodge 92 in 1889. He lived at 1923 Austin Avenue with his wife Annie Kirkpatrick Dennis and their children.
