A great example of Eddie’s fight for women’s rights during her time in the Texas legislature was her sponsorship of the Equal Credit Act, a bill that allowed women to get loans and apply for credit cards without the signature of their husbands or fathers. She also worked to increase maternity leave, access to child care, food for children at school, and access to prenatal care and testing for pregnant women.
