An abundance of naturally heated artesian wells, and the popular belief that such waters possessed healing qualities, drove Waco to market itself as the “Geyser City” in the early twentieth century. Geyser Ice Company’s name may have been a play off of this, for many early advertisements for the company make note that their ice is manufactured from pure, distilled artesian water.
