Though the plant stood in disuse for many years, its adaptation to a research facility today has ensured that the structure will continue to serve a vital role in the city. Today, the former General Tire & Rubber Company plant offers laboratories, offices, symposium and meeting halls, spaces for prototyping and testing innovative ideas, and exhibits designed to spark interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among students and the community in general.
