Playground at Wilson's Creek (1915)

Women and children of Waco played a significant role in raising money for a playground in Cameron Park. Under the leadership of Kate Friend, an ice-cream-cone drive was launched at local schools and the First Ward Civic League was persuaded to contribute money. The Cameron family donated an additional $1,000 as a 1911 Christmas gift to the children of Waco. This enabled a worthy playground with swings, bars, slides, and other items to be installed.
