Being on the radio waves for more than 50 years, Smith has interviewed thousands of people from everyday Texans to more notable figures, like Congressman Bob Pogue, The Midnight Cowboy star Jon Voight, romance novelist Colleen Hover, Old Yeller author Fred Gipson to name a few. Jon Voight is credited as Tumbleweed Smith’s very first interview. Voight was in Big Spring working on scenes for The Midnight Cowboy where Smith was able to interview him, along with other members of the production team.
