Business Girls (c. 1910)

Working women, often nicknamed “business girls,” who lived in the home worked as teachers, clerks, saleswomen, factory workers, bookkeepers, telephone operators, and many other occupations that helped them gain experience in the workforce. Some young women lived there while they completed high school, university, or business school.
